The covid-19 pandemic is still not under control and new virus variants are emerging making it difficult for the government to keep the people and help the doctors as well to curb this. The doctors are the frontline health workers who are taking a major hit from this virus as they are at hospitals treating patients and exposing themselves to the virus. Due to this today we have heard about how many doctors have lost their lives and how there is a shortage of doctors.

To curb the shortage of doctors the BMC has decided to hire retired doctors for the period of three years so that the ratio of the doctors to the patients is not very low and every patient can receive the proper and good treatment that they deserve. The municipal officer said that they didn’t want talent getting wasted. It is said that they will be appointing those doctors who had worked at the BMC-run medical colleges before retirement can now be reappointed till, they reach 65 years of age.

The municipal council has come to this decision after much discussions and consideration and has kept in mind the impact it may have on these doctors. The now-hired, retired doctors have been asked to wear masks at all-time in the hospital along with gloves and having a sanitizer on them at all times. It is also very important for the doctors to take care of themselves by going home and taking steam, drinking hot water, etc. to take care of themselves.

It is very important for the doctors to take care of themselves as at their age, they can be easily targeted by the virus. If they themselves will fall ill, then who would help the other helpless patients? Hence, doctors must eat well so that their immunity is good, take care of themselves physically and mentally, and stay well. We all are in a really difficult time right now with the coronavirus still affecting many along with the various new variants that have been spreading. It is the doctors who are helping the patients and taking care of them and making sure that no more life is lost due to this pandemic.

We would like to wish all the doctors that are re-joining the workforce very good luck as it is really great of them to come forward at such difficult times and helping the nation out. We hope you stay well and healthy, they truly are our nation's great heroes.
