United States of America has entered into a pact with Taliban militants to put an end to the 18 years warfare in Afghanistan and allowing their soldiers to come back to US. American forces had entered Afghanistan in 2001 to curb the activities of Osama Bin Laden and terrorism.

Under the agreement the US will withdraw its forces from Afghanistan over the next 3-4 months and eventually all in 14 months. The complete withdrawal will depend upon the Taliban and their commitment to prevent terrorism.

Former US President George Bush had ordered invasions to Afghanistan following the destruction of the twin World Trade Towers in 2001. Although Osama Bin Laden and many Al Qaida militants were killed, the war has dragged for 18 long years and the U.S. has spent more than $750 billion.

President Donald Trump has promised American people to get the country out of endless wars in the Middle East and the withdrawal of troops could boost his chances as he seeks re-election for a second term as US President.
