For the first time since the revocation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, army Chief General Bipin Rawat will visit Srinagar today. General Rawat will review the safety condition and armed forces preparedness in the Valley during his visit.
Ever since the government announced its move on Article 370, the top brass of the Army has frequently undertaken visits to the Valley to review the security situation. Security was tightened up in the region after the scrappig of Article 370 and bifurcation of the state into two Union Territories — Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh on August 5.
A 65-year-old man was killed by terrorists in the Parimpora area on the outskirts of Srinagar City on Friday. He was a shopkeeper and allegedly killed for keeping his shop open. He was just closing his shop when the motorcycle-borne assailants fired upon him. He succumbed at the local hospital. A few days back, a truck driver was killed in Bijbehara in Anantnag district by stone-pelting criminals.
