The city will unlikely face  water cuts in the coming months. As per BMC, the lakes supplying water to Mumbai collectively has a stock of water for 223 days. The civic body review the water situation in the next week, said officials.

Following a long stretch of dry spell, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation a fortnight ago was mulling over cutting down on water supply.

Officials from BMC's water department said good rainfall in catchment areas in the past few days has improved stock bringing relief to the civic administration. "The stock in all seven lakes have swelled up to 822166 MLD. Mumbai receives between 3,700 and 3,750 million litres a day. If rain continues, Mumbaikars won't have to worry about water cuts this year," said an official.

The water department will soon submit a report on the water situation to BMCchief, who will take a call on whether to reduce supply. "The situation is under control. As per our past experience, we should be getting a clear picture by mid-September."
