New Delhi:The triple talaq bill, adopted by the Lok Sabha three times, completed its toughest test in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday when some  parties opposed such as Nitish Kumar and the AIADMK chose to abstain from voting. Their lack from voting helped bring down the 240-member Rajya Sabha's efficient power and the mark of the majority.

The opposition's request to send the bill to a select committee was dismissed with only 84 members voting in favour, 100 against. Shortly afterwards, the triple talaq bill was enacted with 99 representatives in favour. As he emerged from Parliament, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad showed the sign of victory.
