The UAE National Media Council, NMC, received today at its pavilion at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2018, Dr. Ram Buxani, Chairman of ITL Cosmos Group, to speak about his book, 'Taking the High Road' an autobiography.
The book, which was the bestseller for several months in Dubai in 2003, is dedicated for narrating Dr. Buxani's life and work in Dubai that lasted for sixty years besides the relationship between the two friendly countries, UAE and India.
"Let me first thank the NMC for inviting me to speak today here about my book and I would like to commend the long and deeply rooted relationship between UAE and India in all areas," he said.
He also noted, "The last visits of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to India, and of Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, to the UAE, gave a great push to the strategic relationship between the two countries in all areas".
India is proud to be the only country in the world that has 16 official languages. "India is not only a country, in fact, it is a world in itself as we a have an endless number of colours, costumes, traditions, cuisines and languages."
"India is the real epitome of unity in diversity, compared only to the UAE that hosts today people from more than 200 nationalities coexisting peacefully and happily a matter that turned it into a land of tolerance and moderation," he said.
The Dubai-based Indian business tycoon chaired the Board of the prestigious Indian High School in Dubai from 2000 to 2004, he is also the founder chairman of Overseas Indian Economic Forum which subsequently paved the way for many business councils.
He also received PhD for his thesis 'Governance of Dubai: The influence of tribal tradition in decision making', especially in the critical periods of development of the city-state, in 2004.
