Following its unprecedented drubbing in the Delhi state elections where it failed to win a single assembly seat, the Congress party which once ruled the hearts of Delhi is a house in disorder. The party high command is in no hurry to push through the process of appointing a state chief even as contenders seem to be lobbying for the post.

Shakti Singh Gohil who was made the interim chief after the elections is yet to take up the tasks assigned to him. Sources revealed that Gohil is waiting for orders from senior leader P.C. Chacko to understand his deliverables.

Meanwhile social media is abuzz with former MLA Alka Lamba’s as next Delhi unit chief following her meeting with party high command Sonia Gandhi. Besides Lamba who recently quit Aam Aadmi Party, party candidate from Badli, Devender Yadav is also believed to be in race. Many Congress workers are rooting for a Purvanchal face like Kirti Azad to woo migrant workers in Delhi.

Former Congress MPs Sandeep Dikshit, JP Agarwal and Ajay Maken are also believed to be in contention. The onus however lies with the party high command to choose between young and experienced leaders.
