San Francisco: Facebook’s Official Twitter accounts and Messenger, the messaging apps were hacked and posted messages by cyber criminals. The hackers temporarily took over Instagram through a third-party platform and posted messages and photo of the hackers’ grouping.
CNET report says Twitter declined to name the third-party platform, but a screenshot of the tweets show that the posts came from social media management tool Khoros. Khoros works as a third-party app for digital marketing and Public relations departments linked to social media accounts.
Hackers posted "Hi, we are O u r M i n e. Well, even Facebook is hackable but at least their security better than Twitter"
"Were hacked through a third-party platform" Twitter spokesperson confirmed to POLITICO. And added "As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we locked the compromised accounts and are working closely with our partners at Facebook to restore them," the spokesperson informed.
A report of Facebook spokesperson said "Some of our corporate social accounts were briefly hacked but we have secured and restored access."
OurMine hacker group hijacked more than a dozen NFL teams’ Twitter accounts before the SuperBowl in January. From 2016 the hacker group is active and believed to be consisting of Saudi teenagers.
