New Delhi, April 1: Unitech promoter Sanjay Chandra and his brother Ajay Chandra have been booked under economic offences act and have been arrested by the Delhi Police early in the day today. The two brothers will be brought to court at 2 pm today.
Police had been recieving complaints against Unitech group from home buyers who accused the promoter of duping them of money while buying flats in the Greater Noida residential project. THe buyers were not being reimbursed their money despite teh project not getting finished on time.
According to initial police reports, the promoter had been hoarding money in shell companies and was not buidling the flats at hand, instead the money was being laundered globally.
In January this year, a Delhi Court had ordered a 1 day judicial custody for Chandra and other promoters of Unitech.
