In a span of 24 hours the Indian armed and paramilitary forces have successfully repelled 7 attacks from the Pakistani army as well as the Pakistan sponsored terrorists

Initial reports had suggested that the Pakistani army had opened fire near the Akhnoor sector initially and this was later followed by to infiltration bids into army and paramilitary camps along with other ceasefire violations across other sectors along the LOC. The Baramullah attack was by far the most ferocious, resulting one BSF jawan Nitish Kumar attaining martyrdom while two of the four terrorists were neutralized. The other two are suspected to be on the run after they fled the scene of attack under heavy firing from the Indian Army and BSF.

Another attempt of infiltrating inside the BSF camp in Gurdaspur by terrorists was foiled by the forces, which are on high level all along the western border. The BSF gave a fitting defensive response thereby repelling the attack successfully. No jawans were injured during the encounter. The other violations came in the form of firing across the Northern LOC and the International border areas where civilian population has already been removed from villages close to the IB in anticipation of an aggressive response from Pakistan post the successful surgical strikes carried out by India inside PoK this month.

The Home minister was quick in reaching Kargil yesterday itself after the forces successfully repelled the attacks. The motive of the visit was to understand the different approaches the central Government can undertake with local support to cut off all support system to terrorists from the valley. Rajnath Singh met with people from all walks of life and even took time to understand special issues pertaining to Leh Ladakh.

While reports came in yesterday pointing at talks between the National Security advisors of India and Pakistan in an attempt to tone down the increasing escalation on the borders, the Indian side remains committed to rooting out terrorists who find their way into India. India meanwhile agreed to release a Pakistani solider in its captivity in exchange for the Indian jawan in Pakistani custody who had strayed across the border in a fit of fury. While the political establishment is working hard to build political and diplomatic pressure on Pakistan, the defense forces have been given a free hand to deal with aggressors from across the border with a bloody hand. So far the strategy of defensive offensive is working great for the Indian side.
