Hampi, the city of ruins, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a temple town in northern Karnataka, which was once the capital of the historical Vijayanagara Dynasty. Surrounded by 500 ancient monuments, beautiful temples, bustling street markets, bastions, treasury buildings, and captivating remains of the Vijayanagar Empire, Hampi is a delight to visitors. Hampi is rich in culture which remains unaffected by westernization in the modern-day. The culture of Hampi, vibrant is tied to its roots. The architecture in Hampi speaks of the traits of both Hindu and Muslim architecture.

It takes around two days to visit this town and soak it all. But what u should not miss if you're in Hampi is Virupaksha Temple. It is the main tourist spot in Hampi and can be seen from all over the area. With its beautiful golden tower, it is the main place for pilgrims when they visit Hampi.

At the end of the Hampi Bazaar, up a couple of staircases, you find the impressive monolith Bull. A huge bull carved out of a rock. To protect this statue they built a shrine around it. If you continue your walk you will find several impressive and magnificent ruins. Hampi can be visited all around the year but given that you have to roam around a lot around Hampi, the winter season is the preferable time because temperatures are cooler, otherwise, be ready with a lot of sunscreens and a bottle of water as it is very hot during summer. Also, the Hampi Festival is held in November.
