The Prime Minister’s brainchild, Proactive Governance and Timely Implementation, PRAGATI has responded well to the increasing demand of projects required for development of India. So far within a span of only one and half years, PRAGATI has helped launch projects worth 8 lakh crores pushing ahead close to `35 projects pan India.

With the Prime Minster personally overseeing the completion of projects within the stipulated deadlines, all agencies including State Governments are making sure that all projects in all infrastructure areas are reaching a timely conclusion. The project is seeing that adequate investment is being made in the public and private sectors of power, rail, and roadways along with other. A case in point being the Nanagal dam- TAlwara railways project that has been in a state of limbo since the 80’s. Under PRAGATI, the state government of Punjab has been asked to give out required clearances as soon as possible so that the work can start on the dam project. Prime Minister reviews almost all cases on a personal level and holds required meetings to speed things up. In the last 18 months projects worth 8 lakhs crores have been cleared.

Not just national projects, PRAGATI is also helping India funded projects abroad as well. The hyrdo power project as well as the parliament project in Afghanistan are two such examples which are under watch by PRAGATI.

This seems to be the PM’s initiative to clear out projects such due to bureaucratic red tape and helps bring to light certain flagship Government projects across the country. This will give a boost to the private sector as well since it can boost further investment in major sectors from private players as well. In one of the first meetings of PRAGATI the PM had stated that the role of pragati was to break down walls between government agencies that impede deadline related completion of work.
