Rs 4,240 crore for MMR development: MMRDA

The Chief Minister and Chairman of MMRDA, Prithviraj Chavan, at MMRDA’s 134th authority meeting approved Rs. 4,240.78 crore budgets for the year 2014-15. The budget was presented by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) late on Friday evening.

The budget prioritized implementation of crucial projects in Mumbai metropolitan region along with Metro rail, monorail, development of road network besides other infra developments.

The authority earmarked Rs 3,628 crore for various infrastructure projects in the city as well as MMR. It has further allocated Rs 650 crore for constructing four flyovers, a creek bridge over Revas – Karanja; bridges at Mankoli-Motegaon road, Kalyan – Bhivandi, NH222 near Ulhas creek. The project also includes broadening and improvement of road network at various places.

The authority has allocated Rupees 215 crore for flyovers and road improvements, 634 crore for metrorail project and Rupees 400 crore for 2nd phase of monorail.

It has continued to make a huge provision of funds in order to execute crucial infra projects in Mumbai and MMR, such as metrorail, ROBs, flyovers, creek bridges, road network etc.

“The fruits of this single minded approach to developing Mumbai and MMR will soon be enjoyed by the people. I am sure they will continue to support us in future too”, said  U.P.S.Madan ,Metropolitan commissioner, MMRDA

 Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation expected to buy new trains in the budgetary year 2014-15, a provision of Rupees 1,000 crore has been made for the same.

The authority has spared 128.88 crore for water resources development in MMR.

Prominent among those present in the meeting were Sunil Prabhu, Mumbai Mayor, MLAs Nawab Malik, Prashant Thakur and Prakash BInsale; MLC Yashodhar Phanse, Chairman Standing Committee, MCGM, J.S.Saharai ,Chief secretary ,GOM, Sitaram Kunte, Commissioner, MCGM, Manukumar Srivastav, Principal Secretary, UDD,  Debashish Chakrabarty, Principal Secretary Housing,  Shrikant Singh, Principal Secretary, UDD; Presidents of Muncipal Corporations and Councils within  metropolitan  regions and senior officials of MMRDA.
